Effect of Recoupedrol on pro-inflammatory markers related to muscle soreness during acute eccentric resistance exercise in young subjects. A total 20 healthy non-resistance trained young male and females were assigned to ingest either 400mg of Recoupedrolor Placebo for 14 days before the eccentric exercise bout.
Two-way ANOVA of data of IL-1rα showed significant treatment-dependent [F (1.76) = 11.81, p=0.001]. At post workout 0 hours IL-1rα serum levels significantly decreased by 5.56% in Recoupedrol group compared to pre-workout whereas significantly increased by 68.87% in placebo group compared to pre-workout. After 24 hours of post-workout Recoupedrol group shown 13.33% decrease in IL-1rα serum levels compared to pre-workout whereas placebo group shown increase of 28.08% in IL-1rα serum levels compared to pre-workout.
Two-way ANOVA of data of IL-1β showed significant time-dependent (F [4, 72] = 4.77, p<0.01). At post workout 0 hours serum IL-1β levels increased by 12.90% in Recoupedrol group compared to pre-workout whereas placebo shown increase by 21.2% compared to pre-workout. After 24 hours of post-workout Recoupedrol shown 1.62 % increase in serum IL-1β compared to pre-workout whereas placebo group shown increase of 6.36% in serum IL-1β compared to pre-workout.
Two-way ANOVA of data of IL-6 showed significant time-dependent (F [4, 72] = 4.033, p<0.01). At post-workout 0 hours Recoupedrol group shown a decrease in serum IL-6 levels by 1.6% compared to pre-workout whereas the placebo group showed an increase by 43% compared to pre-workout. After 24 hours post-workout Recoupedrol shown 41% decrease in serum IL-6 levels compared to pre-workout whereas placebo group shown increase of 8.3% compared to pre-workout
A second clinical study is currently being completed which is investigating the effect of Recoupedrol on markers of muscle damage and inflammation in healthy non-resistance trained subjects. A total 60 non-resistance-trained (< 6 months) subjects were assigned to ingest either placebo or Recoupedrol (300 mg) or Recoupedrol (500 mg) for 4 weeks. They were assessed for muscular strength/endurance, joint mobility, perceived soreness, pain, inflammatory and muscle damage markers
